WUMB February Program Guide

Gearing Up for the Holidays…

Usually the end of the year is a slower time for new releases where the labels and artists start to gear up for the New Year, but we are so fortunate to be inundated with tons of great music.  Here’s some new stuff that might peak your interest or at the very least give you some ideas for that ever difficult holiday gift!

Dave Van Ronk Down In Washington Square.  It’s a new 3cd set with both previously released and unreleased material.  Lots of really great stuff here…

Howe Gelb The Coincidentalist.  This album is out there…in a very good way, very experimental…very stream of consciousness but worth a listen.

Amos Lee Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song.  Amos Lee is a pretty big name these days and his sound has slightly changed to a bit more country/bluegrass influence on this one.  He’s got lots of help from Alison Krauss, Patty Griffin etc.

Various Artists Inside Llewyn Davis Soundtrack.  I can’t speak enough about this album and what it means.  T Bone Burnett enlists the likes of The Punch Brothers, the actors in the film and even Justin Timberlake to bring these old folk songs to life.

So there you have it…some great albums for your listening pleasure.  As always, thanks for listening and supporting WUMB!
