Matching Gifts

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our successful Fall Member Drive! We greatly appreciate all your support!

I would like to remind all of our Members that you can increase the value of your gift via Matching Funds. It’s a very easy process. Simply ask your personnel department at work if they have a Matching Gift Program. If so, ask for a form, fill it out, and send it to us. It’s a very easy way that may double the value of your gift! We receive thousands of dollars through Matching Gift Funds every year.

Thank you for so much for the extra effort!

Gearing Up for the Holidays…

Usually the end of the year is a slower time for new releases where the labels and artists start to gear up for the New Year, but we are so fortunate to be inundated with tons of great music.  Here’s some new stuff that might peak your interest or at the very least give you some ideas for that ever difficult holiday gift! Local Folk with Patrick Coman

It’s been an exciting first month for me at WUMB, curating and hosting Local Folk on Saturdays from 12-2pm. I was fortunate enough to be involved in the New England Americana Festival as a performer, organizer, and running sound and MCing at the WUMB stage on Winthrop Park. Events like this where 65+ folk, roots, blues, and Americana bands were seen all throughout Harvard Square, remind me of the incredible range of musical talent that our city and our region has to offer. It also reminds me of why programs like Local Folk are important in helping to spotlight just some of these amazing artists, because if there’s one thing I took from this festival is that there is a hunger for locally produced music. To be able to help deliver that to listeners who I know will love these artists as much as I do is incredibly meaningful.

On the Road

“What is that feeling when you’re driving away from people and they recede on the plain until you see their specks dispersing?  It’s the too huge world vaulting us, and it’s goodbye.  But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.”

Inside Llewyn Davis

What’s your take on the Coen Brothers?  I can’t say that I’m their number one fan…there’s certainly a bunch of movies they’ve done that I completely admire like Raising Arizona and Fargo.  With that being said I’m not the kind of super fan where any film they do a “must see”.  With that being stated, I’m pretty much salivating over their next film scheduled for an early December release called Inside Llewyn DavisRead More…

Publicize YOUR company & help WUMB at the same time!

I’m sure you’ve heard this before:

I’d like to talk to you if you own a business. I have an idea that would be a big win/win for everyone.

Now here’s the part you haven’t heard:

As usual the WUMB Fall Member Drive takes place this month. It is, as always, a critical one for the station, and we have to reach our fund raising goal to be able to continue to offer the programing that you have come to count on. Over the years we’ve found that the most successful way to inspire people to donate is challenges. That’s when a company, organization or even an individual offers to match part, or all, of listener donations for a period of time or up to a predetermined amount. Read More…
