WUMB January Program Guide

WUMB Welcomes A Train with Lisa Garvey

A Train with Lisa Garvey

Welcome to 2014…I hope it’s treating you kindly so far!  We’ve got a new show that premiered recently on Sunday morning at 8am called A Train and is hosted by Lisa Garvey.  Give it a listen!  Lisa’s family comes from a Jazz background so she has a lot of knowledge to share when it comes some of those players and songs.  But what I really love about her knowledge and her show is that it’s not just a straight Jazz show.  T Bone Burnett has said in interviews that what wine is to France, music is to America.  We have an abundance of music heritage in this country, and that’s what WUMB in essence is all about…showcasing great American music in all forms.  What’s great about her show is that she can play John Coltrane and then fast forward to today and play something from Amos Lee or Martin Sexton and show you how it all connects.  And while it’ll be a very different atmosphere then what we’ve had on Sunday mornings, I really do think you’ll like it.  All of the great acoustic players that you’ve come to know on WUMB will still be featured throughout the week.  On any given day you can still hear Pete Seeger, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Alison Krauss and more.  So with that, I hope you give A Train a  listen.  It’s on every Sunday morning from 8am-12pm.

All the best in 2014,

Jay Moberg
