WUMB January Program Guide

New Music on The Morning Show

One aspect I love about WUMB and The Morning Show, is the great new music we have.  There is so much that is constantly being released and we love to bring it to you. Every Tuesday morning Jay Moberg (WUMB program director & music director) and I sit down and we choose two new releases and highlight them on the show.  For example, Lucinda Williams’s new album, “Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone” originally had 30 songs on it.  Lucinda managed to get that down to 20 songs and release the album as a 2 cd set.  Or, maybe it’s one from the new collective put together by T-Bone Burnett. Recently uncovered Bob Dylan lyrics from 1967 where handed over to T-Bone Burnett, and are now put to song.  Originally the people that discovered these lyrics didn’t know if they should be released as just plain text or put to music.  So they called on T-Bone Burnett and he knew exactly what to do.  Burnett picked up the phone and called on some of his friends in the music industry…Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and Marcus Mumford (Mumford and Sons). They just released the album and called it Lost On the River: The New Basement Tapes.   If you go to WUMB.org go to our new music page.  You can see all the new music we have going on here at WUMB and make a purchase through the amazon.com link on our website.  By doing this WUMB will receive a portion of the proceeds to from your purchase.  Just another way to support the station you love!

Before I say goodbye for now I need to say THANK YOU!!  You might say, “Why are you thanking us?”  Because of your support we had a great fundraiser!  We once again surpassed our goal!  We were able to do this because of your contributions and pledges.

Until next time and Happy Holidays to you all!
