WUMB November Program Guide

International Women’s Day

So here we are in March with just a few more weeks of Winter.  I hope this finds you well and I hope you’ve endured this terrible Winter as best as humanly possible!

Now that we’re officially into the month of March, I wanted to give you an update regarding a very special tribute that we’ll be doing.  International Women’s Day is officially Sunday, March 8th, but we decided to make this a month long feature honoring the countless musical contributions that Women have made through the years.  Every Monday through Friday during March we’re going to be spotlighting some of these amazing artists.  We’ve been working very diligently in our Production Studio over the last few months getting these segments ready and it’s been a lot of fun!

So what exactly can you expect?  To start, you’ll be hearing segments on the air that give some really wonderful information about these artists.  You’ll find out where these musicians came from, what inspired them, and what specific contributions they made to change music forever.  Kudos to WUMB’s Production Department, spearheaded by Matt Leonard.  He did a terrific job on these and I think you’ll really enjoy them.

Secondly and most importantly is the MUSIC!  You’ll get to hear from artists like Bessie Smith, Nina Simone, Patsy Cline and many others.  Not only will this month prove to be educational but I think you’ll also find it quite entertaining.

So with that, I hope you enjoy March (and the countdown to Spring!).  Let me know your thoughts if and when you hear some of these segments.
