WUMB October Program Guide

From the Desk of the Program Director

Before I begin, let me take a very brief moment to thank you!  I’d like to personally thank you if you donated/listened/cheered us on etc during our Fall Fundraiser.  We had one of the best Fundraisers we’ve ever had in the history of the station and that shows me that you’re enjoying what you’re hearing.  Now that you’ve done your part, it’s our turn.  We’ll make sure we use this money wisely and to continue to create new programming and new events for our Members.

Now…onto business!

We’ve got a very exciting November coming up and I’d like to share a few of the many events and programs that are happening.

New episodes of Folk Tales and Guest Mix are on the way.  We heard you loud and clear during our Fundraiser that you love these shows and want to hear more of them!  We’re working on it!  Currently Folk Tales is on at 7am on Saturdays and Guest Mix is on at 7pm.  We’re currently working on getting both of those programs more desirable time slots. We’ve got a Member Concert coming up on November 30th!  Details are coming soon….we’d love to see you there!

Speaking of which…I hope to see many of you at our special Mavis Staples show on the 19th,  which is now sold out.

We’ve also got another broadcast in our “Third Thursday Concert Series” in partnership with The Burren in Somerville.  First off…do you know that tickets are discounted 50% for WUMB Members to this concert series?  If you want to head out to catch some live (and usually) local music, keep checking our website for info.  It’s a great perk of being a Member of WUMB!  We’re lucky enough to be bringing talented Rhode Island based singer songwriter Ian Fitzgerald to the series on 11/17.  If you can’t make it…tune in!  We broadcast these shows live in their entirety.

We’ve also got many in studio interviews booked this month with favorites like Mark Erelli, Antje Duvekot and more joining us live in studio.

I hope November is treating you well and I hope we have lots to interest you here at WUMB.  We’re listener supported Public Radio because of your support….THANK YOU!
