WUMB November Program Guide

Two Milestones for Folk Tales this Month

September marks two milestones for Folk Tales, our weekly trip to the roots of roots music––and special Tales for each one. September 9, we visit banjo legend Ralph Stanley, who was playing bluegrass before bluegrass was, well, bluegrass. September 16 is our 50th show, with a special Folk Tale about the roots of the Hootenanny, what they were, why they mattered––and how they got that weird name. September 23, we meet old-timey old-timer, Charlie Poole––you probably know his songs, even if you don’t know him. On the 30th, I can’t think of a better 1st Birthday present than the moving story behind “We Shall Overcome.” A year of Folk Tales––can you believe it? And it’s all thanks to you!
