I am settling into middays on WUMB. Listen in during the 10 o’clock hour as I share my musical discoveries during the 10 O’clock Coffee Break. Coming Up on Folk Tales

This month Folk Tales visits the high hollers of Jean Ritchie’s Appalachia; the sophisticated nightclub blues of Josh White, who helped teach folk how to strut its stuff; and the jingle-jangle heyday of the Greenwich Village folk scene––both in the ‘60s and ‘80s, when an odd little project called the Fast Folk Musical Magazine helped create the urban songwriter revival. Live Broadcasts from SAMW Week 1!

During the week of July 10 – 14, Monday through Friday morning WUMB will broadcast live from “The Chapel in the Pines” at Week 1 of our Summer Acoustic Music Week folk music camp. The shows will stream live on the SAMW website at 7:30am and then, at 1:00pm the morning show will be broadcast on WUMB-FM.  On each show host Lorraine Hammond will feature two of our world-class instructors, performing and discussing their current projects and their week at SAMW. We hope that you’ll join us, and either listen live on the Web in the morning or tune in for the broadcast in the afternoon. Either way, you’ll enjoy a half-hour of great music and conversation, direct from SAMW!!

It’s SAMW time!

The first week of WUMB’s Summer Acoustic Music Week adult folk music camp gets underway on July 9, at the beautiful Geneva Point Conference Center on Lake Winnipesaukee. A faculty of world-class professional musician/instructors joins 100 folk music enthusiasts for a week of classes, workshops, jams, concerts, dances, open mikes, songs circles, friendship and much more!

Producer Spotlight with Jess Phaneuf

Jess has been focusing on a different producer each week on the Producer Spotlight. Listen in as she talks about the producer of the week and plays something they’ve worked on. On Fridays it’s an entire set of music to wrap up the feature. For example, the month of June was focused on regional producers like Zachariah Hickman, Lorne Entress and Crit Harmon.  Read More…
