WUMB September Program Guide

Another Great Month of Music on Celtic Twilight

On February 4 we honor Susan McKeown, Dublin-born singer/songwriter who celebrates a birthday this week. She initially studied opera before turning to folk and world music. Always unique, she has recorded an album of Yiddish and Irish folk songs with the Klezmatics as well as an original album exploring madness and mental illness. Then on the 11th we will bring you Celtic Love Songs for Valentines Day, featuring the timeless love songs of the poet Robert Burns. On February 18 we salute Canadian musician, harpist, accordionist, and pianist Loreena McKennitt, who celebrates a birthday. She writes and records world music with Irish and Middle Eastern themes. And rounding out the month, on February 25 we give birthday honors to Canadian fiddler and songwriter Ashley MacIsaac. He is unorthodox and unique in his style, mixing rock vibes with trad fiddling.
