WUMB November Program Guide

April Pangs Are Over… Welcome May On Breakfast With The Beatles

Thanks to everyone who came to our “Give Peace A Dance” Party on Saturday night, April 28th in Norwood. We had a fantastic turnout of Beatles fans. Thanks to our two bands, The Oh Nos!!! and Walrus Gumboot! Two lucky people went home with a pair of tickets each to see Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band on Sept 17 at the Boch Wang Theater and many others walked away with original Beatles vinyl albums and CD’s.

We will be announcing our Beatle Paul Birthday Party coming in June! Listen to Breakfast With The Beatles only on WUMB for all the details.

We have great shows lined up for you this month!

It was May 9th, 1962 when Brian Epstein met George Martin for the very first time. That meeting and the subsequent audition that Martin held for The Beatles would change the world forever! We’ll look back to that meeting and revisit the songs The Beatles performed in the EMI Studios on Abbey Road, and we’ll reveal the quote from George Harrison to George Martin that sealed the deal for Martin and confirmed the contract for what would be the world’s greatest rock’n’roll band.

On May 5th, 1969 as the Beatles inched closer to breaking up, “Get Back” was released in the U.S and was a huge seller.

On May 11th, 1964 Capitol Records released one of two vinyl 45 EP’s, entitled “Four By The Beatles.” We’ll play this very rare 45, and take a look at why these two EP’s didn’t sell very well in the US but were wildly popular in the UK.

In 1970 on May 18th much to the dismay of fans all over the world, the very last Beatles album was released. We’ll feature the Let It Be album throughout the show, and look back to the joy and sadness that came with that final release for The Beatles as a band.

We’ll take a look back at the day Wings played in Boston for the very first time, at the Boston Garden on May 22nd, 1976.

On May 12th Paul released the song “Mary Had A Little Lamb.” Why would he pick that song? We’ll tell you why.

As we wrap up May, we’ll look back at the songs The Beatles released this month: “The Long and Winding Road” on May 11th 1970, “From Me To You” on May 27th, 1963 on VJ Records, May 22nd, 1965’s “Ticket To Ride,” May 30th, 1966’s “Paperback Writer,” and others!

That’s it for now; stay in touch with the show these three ways:
