WUMB April Program Guide

Expand Your Musical Horizons!

Do you play the guitar? Sing? Write your own songs? At WUMB’s Summer Acoustic Music Weeks (SAMW) we of course offer classes in guitar, singing and songwriting, taught by world-class instructors in a beautiful setting on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. But maybe you’d like to add something new to your musical skills set this year — our adult music camps in July (7/8-14) and August (8/19-25) will also feature classes in performance, mandolin, dulcimer, banjo, fiddle, harmonica, and ukulele!

How about a new or improved technique on your familiar instrument? You could learn beginning or advanced guitar flatpicking and thumbpicking, guitar improvisation, mandolin doublestops, or the special skill of backup guitar! And if you’re a songwriter, you could expand your writing practice with songwriting games, how to craft story songs, or using journaling for song inspiration.

Or you might like to branch out into a new musical style – we’ve got classes that focus on old-time folk, blues, roots guitar, swing, and even some jazz. Or perhaps you’d enjoy a deep dive into a specific artist’s work or a single subject; this year we have classes on the music of Joseph Spence, Joe & Odell Thompson, Josh White, Sr., African American songs and tunes, and songs of civil rights.

All of this and so much more is waiting for you at SAMW! For full details and to apply online please visit the SAMW website, or call 617-287-6915 to reserve your space. And don’t wait – there are only FOUR spaces left in each week this year!!

We look forward to seeing you at camp!
