WUMB June Program Guide

From the Desk of the Programming Director

With a few days up in the mid-80s it’s finally starting to feel like Spring/Summer as we head into June!  I hope this message is finding you well.  Here’s some info to pass along….

I hope you were able to tune in for our live broadcast from The City Winery last week with Rodney Crowell.  It was an amazing live event and we’re hoping to bring more of these specials your way.  With that said, I hope you can listen as we head back to City Winery on Sunday, June 10th at 7pm with special guests Dave Alvin & Jimmy Dale Gilmore. They just released an album together and I’m anticipating one great night of music.  I hope you can listen here in Boston, or online wherever you are.

We’ve got a couple of very cool listener events that you’ll be hearing about eventually, including a rescheduling (finally!) of our Folk Tales Member Event with Scott Alarik as well as a future event happening at Club Passim in July.  Keep listening and checking our social media for forthcoming information.

We have another live 3rd Thursday broadcast happening on Thursday, June 21st with special guest Melissa Ferrick.  WUMB Members get 50% savings, and if you can’t attend we will bring you this concert in its entirety.

For the last couple of months we’ve experimented with featuring some of our more popular weekend Programming in the 12pm hour Monday through Friday. While some of you have expressed delight in hearing American Routes during the day, the overwhelming majority of you have kindly requested we go back to playing music.  I’m hearing you loud and clear, and by mid-June we’ll be back to hearing these shows at their normal times on the weekend.

Lastly, I’m asking for your continued support of WUMB as we approach the end of the Fiscal Year. Simply put, none of this is possible without your support. Everything from Highway 61 Revisited, to the hosts you hear on air, to our stream…all of it is brought to you by listener support. That’s how we like it. We believe that WUMB should remain a beacon for Folk, Roots, Blues, Americana, New and Local Music and more in the Boston area. If you agree, support us with a pledge! You can pledge during our End of Fiscal Year Fundraiser later this month or you can renew your support online at wumb.org.

As always, thank you for your continued support of the station. I know I’m repeating myself…but we can’t do it without you!
