WUMB October Program Guide

H61 in June

June has brought with it some warm (ish) weather which, to be honest makes it all a touch harder to spend 4+ hours in the basement on Saturday mornings but…your input and e-mails and phone calls of encouragement make it all worth while, thanks…

…speaking of…when I put out the word that I was considering a so-called back-to-back H61 feature weeks back the response has been amazing, best ever actually…the basic premise being to feature a song written in the 60’s or 70’s and follow it with a cover also from the 60’s and 70’s…as in…Ian & Sylvia’s ‘Four Strong Winds’ followed by Neil Young’s version…Cat Stevens’ ‘Here Comes My Baby’ followed by the Tremeloes take…the Monkees’ ‘Take A Giant Step’ followed by Taj Mahal’s interpretation…Dylan/the Byrds, John Prine/Bonnie Raitt, you get the idea…and boy did you ever…with all your creative suggestions we could be fdoing this four-hour H61 feature at least another couple of times…

this is all happening this weekend the 9th, the following weekend (16th) our focus is Nick Drake/Ian Matthews/Paul McCartney, the 23rd is all about Ray Davies/Jeff Beck (and our end of the fiscal year fundraiser!), and the 30th we’ll be featuring the music of Dave Van Ronk/Alan Wilson…

as usual and first and foremost, thanks for listening, we’ll ‘talk’ again next month!!
