WUMB February Program Guide

From the Desk of the Programming Director

It’s Summer!

I usually start these blogs off with a quick “where is the time going” kind of rant and this month is no exception. As I’m writing you we’re gearing up for the 4th of July, the kids are out of school, and lazy hazy days ahead (not really lazy, who are we kidding!?).  I hope this is finding you well…here are some notes as we head into July.

First off…wow, and thank you!  We just ended our End of Fiscal Year Fundraiser, which is always a short but very important one for us. I’m once again extremely humbled by the support that we received and am struggling to find new ways of saying, “Thank you!” Our goal with every Fundraiser is to meet or exceed each goal so that we can continue to broadcast year in and year out. Another goal that is always in the back of my mind is, “How fast can we finish?” On June 25th we were able to shut the Fundraiser down by about 12pm, our earliest time to date. Once again, THANK YOU for supporting WUMB! We will do everything to make FY19 the best we’ve had.

Some other notes for July….

Be on the lookout VERY shortly about a July Member Event with Club Passim on 7/22.

Have you heard our new program, The Right Mind Media Podcast? We’re extremely pleased to bring you this show each Sunday Morning at 7am. Almost 1 in 10 Americans suffer from substance or alcohol use disorders and 1 in 5 adults are affected by mental illness. Practically everyone knows someone who needs help, and that’s where The Right Mind Media Podcast comes in.  Each week join hosts Jon Cohan and Gabrielle “Abby” Dean as they cover a variety of topics.

We have some great in-studio performances booked for the month of July including Caitlin Canty on 7/13, The Cowboy Junkies on 7/18, Birds of Chicago on 7/20 and Lindsay Lou on 7/23.

Our 3rd Thursday Concert is happening on 7/19 with special guests Paul Rishell & Annie Raines. They’ve been working together for over 25 years and this should be phenomenal. If you’re a Member of WUMB you get 50% savings off your ticket!

So yes, it is Summer, but things are not slowing down at WUMB. Thanks again for your continued support of the station and I hope you have a great 4th of July Holiday!

Best,

~ Jay Moberg
