Celtic Twilight
7/1 – Today is Canada Day! In honor of this national Canadian holiday, we will feature many favorite Celtic musicians who make Canada their home.
7/8 – We celebrate accordion player, Tony McMahon from Clare. He is the master of the slow air, scholar and Irish radio host.
7/15 – We showcase fiddler Brian Conway of NY City who studied under Martin Wynne, one of the great Sligo stylists. Brian has been an All Ireland Champion at every age level.
7/22 – We honor remarkable Scottish singer, guitarist, harp and whistle player, Tony Cuffe. Sadly, Tony passed away a few years ago but left a wonderful body of work. He was a member of several bands: Alba, Jock Tamsons Bairns and Ossian
7/29 – We honor Donegal fiddler Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh, founding member of the band Altan

Week of 7/1 – All week Dylan’s body of work in the 1980’s is featured
Week of 7/8 – All week Dylan covering his hero Woody Guthrie (who was born 7/14/12)

7/7 – The “Big Bang” of Western Swing! We’ll study the migration from 20’s vintage jazz and standards through the genesis of Western Swing.

7/21 – John Hartford’s “Steam Powered Aereo Plane,” the Monroe Brothers, the Sweetback Sisters, Yvette Landy, Jean Shepard, Ginny Hawker, Mac Wiseman, Johnny Gimble, Bob Wills, and Webb Pierce, etc!
7/28 – C&W staples like Waylon Jennings, Hank Sr., Pee Wee King, Roy Acuff, Red Foley, and a really funny one from the Canadian vocal trio “Finest Kind”

Odyssey
7/1 – We are reveling in the music of Eastern Europe, and will focus on some of the best of the gypsy new wave today.
7/8 – Swing from France and Spain are the center of the show this week, especially the music of the great Django Reinhardt.
7/15 – Catching up on some of the new recordings to come into the station in the last month from all over the world.
7/22 – We head East for a few weeks to listen to some extraordinary recordings from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkistan.
7/29 – We will visit the Russian steppe and on into Mongolia this week
