WUMB April Program Guide

From the Desk of the Programming Director

Programming Update

With December here and the New Year just around the corner, I wanted to go over some odds and ends in the world of Programming to discuss.

We said “goodbye” and now we say “hello” once again to old friend Perry Persoff who is back with WUMB. Perry decided that the West Coast can wait and that Boston will be his home for the immediate future. As typical with Perry…you’ll hear his voice all over the place shortly (if not already).

Speaking of “goodbye”…I’ll be saying goodbye to hosting WUMB Sunday Morning over the next few weeks. The show of course will continue as we welcome new host Rob Hochschild to WUMB. Starting Sunday, January 20th he’ll be taking over the Sunday time slot from 8am-12pm. We’ve been working together over the last number of weeks and we both are very much in agreement on the kinds of artists we want to continue to hear on Sunday Morning. Rob is not a Boston native but has been involved with the Local Music scene for years and I know he will continue to feature great music on Sunday mornings.

Members: be on the lookout for a note from WUMB about participating in our Top 10 Album Countdown of 2018. Many of you expressed your desire to participate in the voting process so we’ve brought the Top 10 back this year. We will compile all the votes and starting Wednesday, December 26th we’ll do the countdown on the air. We’d love your participation and I look forward to what the results will be!

We’ve got a Richard Thompson 2-hour radio special that’s airing on Wednesday, December 12th at 8pm. This was recorded in its entirety from Richard’s recent show at The Paradise in Boston. It’s killer! He plays a bunch of new stuff from his recent album, 13 Rivers, and the band is impressive. Tune in Wednesday, December 12th at 8pm for the entire show.

Our next Burren event is happening on Thursday, December 20th with special guest Kimon Kirk. He’s been a veteran of the Local Music scene but he’s now based on the West Coast. We can’t wait to have him back in Boston, and don’t forget WUMB Members get a 50% discount when purchasing tickets.

To all of our Members: Happy Hanukah, Merry Christmas, Happy Winter Solstice and whatever else you may celebrate. I appreciate you listening and supporting WUMB and look forward to your involvement in 2019.

Best,

~ Jay Moberg
