WUMB November Program Guide

From the Desk of the Programming Director

Changes in April

Hi and thanks for listening and supporting WUMB! I wanted to take a moment post-Spring Fundraiser to express my sincere thanks for supporting WUMB. Each Fundraiser we go into brings a bit of doubt and speculation about our listeners. We’re over 60% Listener Supported. Will they respond? Will they donate? The answer was of course, “YES”. Because of your support we reached our goal and WUMB remains strong as we continue in FY19. Now onto more exciting things in the world of Programming!

For the last couple of years we’ve been airing Music City Roots out of Nashville. While we enjoyed the show a lot there were many production issues on their end, and they have recently shut down distribution for the show. Which leads us to….

Starting Saturday, April 6 we’re moving two of our more popular shows to better time slots. I get messages on a continuous basis asking for a better time slot for E Town and I can finally say, “we have delivered.” Starting Saturday, April 6 E Town will air immediately after Mountain Stage at 4pm.

Then at 5pm we’re moving Beale Street Caravan to lead into Spinning The Blues with Holly Harris. Beale Street is a terrific program that’s been capturing and exporting the sounds of Memphis and the Delta region for the last 20 years.

Some other notes in Programming:

We have great live music scheduled for April including live sessions with The Suitcase Junket on 4/5, The Cactus Blossoms on 4/12 and more!

As of this writing our next Member Concert in April is just about booked up. Be on the lookout for our next Member event in May.

Join us for our next 3rd Thursday at the Burren Concert on Thursday, April 18 with the always adventurous Chandler Travis!

That’s all for now. Thank you as always for listening and supporting WUMB!
