LOCAL BLUES for October

New England has a plethora of great music and musicians. These past couple of months some really fine new cds have come across my spinner and I’d love to share a few with you. I’ll be spotlighting several of them this month as well as a continuing to play a couple from last month that deserve mention. Read More…

It’s a Thousand Pages, Give or Take a Few

I mean, it’s not…not right/write now.

What to write what to write what to write…

I seem to be suffering from a bit of writer’s block. Unfortunately, I don’t have a liquor cabinet handy to open up for inspiration like Celia Woodsmith and her “Bourbon Hound” song. Given the giant pile of books I just returned to the library & all the music in my phone “history,” perhaps I am in more of a content consumption mode than a content creation mode? Read More…

A fond farewell, two fun annual local music festivals, and some notable concerts by area artists. October is shaping up to be pretty packed for Local Music. Let’s dive into it.

I hope your fall is off to a good start. I’m looking forward to the second WUMB Blues Music Camp, which is coming up around the corner over the weekend of November 8-10 at Grotonwood Camp and Conference Center in Groton, MA. Happy October!

Here are some news/notes from the world of Programming!

First off I’d like to thank you for your continued support of WUMB. As I’m sure you know our Fall Fundraiser is coming up quickly and our sights are set on the largest goal we’ve ever had at WUMB of $205,000. Over 80% of everything that it takes to keep WUMB on the air comes from individual contributions, not large ones from Corporate Underwriting. With that, I’m asking you directly to get your pledge in early if possible! We’ve got a pretty cool WUMB 2020 Calendar as a special thank you gift if you can contribute before October 18th. Thank you…we really do appreciate all of your support! Read More…
