WUMB January Program Guide

I hope your fall is off to a good start. I’m looking forward to the second WUMB Blues Music Camp, which is coming up around the corner over the weekend of November 8-10 at Grotonwood Camp and Conference Center in Groton, MA. We’re about 40 minutes west of Boston this year because, well, Lake Winnipesaukee is far away and NH is cold!

I’ve been talking with this year’s instructors, and everyone is excited to share their knowledge of blues music with you! Phil Wiggins will come up from Virginia to teach harmonica licks. Go ahead, steal a few; he won’t mind. Miss Tess is coming in from Nashville to open your world to Memphis Minnie. You’ll soon appreciate that blues is not just a boys’ club. SAMW veteran instructor Martin Grosswendt and Ilana Katz Katz will be on hand to show you that blues instrumentation doesn’t have to be just guitar or harmonica. They will be at camp to pass down the technique of blues mandolin and fiddle. respectively. Oh, and you’ll get to try out and show off everything you learn in jams and a student concert! All levels from beginner to advanced are welcome.

Check out more info about this year’s WUMB Blues Music Camp on our website. You can register there, too. But do it soon because space is running out!
