WUMB June Program Guide

Looking Back…and Ahead

2019 was a very good year for WUMB. Thanks to you, we have gone from success to success, even setting a couple of records along the way! And we have great things in store for you in 2020.

Our Fall Fundraiser was the highlight of the year.  We had set our most ambitious fundraising goal ever, and thanks to your generous contributions we not only met and surpassed that goal but we did it in record time — ending the fundraiser earlier than ever before!  Due to recent changes at UMass Boston we must now raise our entire operating budget, and 80% of that comes from listener support.  All of us at WUMB are humbled and grateful for this demonstration that you share our commitment to this kind of music, as well as our mission of supporting local artists and venues.

Our Acoustic Music Camps program enjoyed another successful year with the Winter Weekend in February, two Summer Acoustic Music Weeks (SAMW) in July and August, and our second Blues Music Camp wrapping up the year in November. 2020 will mark the 25th anniversary of our SAMW program, and we have two special summer weeks planned to celebrate, along with other events that we’ll tell you more about in the New Year. The Acoustic Music Camps are another way that WUMB brings this music to our listenership, both from New England and from everywhere the Internet can reach as more and more people discover WUMB online.

Your support has also made it possible for us to improve our local broadcast service this year, launching a signal tower in Gloucester and getting our tower in Orleans back on the air. Every dollar we receive goes to improving the services you receive from WUMB, and we cannot say, “Thank you,” enough.

I hope that you will stay tuned to WUMB, over the air or online. Watch for special events and new features coming up in 2020. Let us know how you think we’re doing — we want to hear from you!

And, just to say it one more time, thank you.
