A few weeks back, Leif Vollebekk was on World Cafe talking about his synesthesia, i.e. he sees colors when he creates music. According to the interview, he was directing his backing band to play something “golden” and that’s how “Hot Tears” came about. Van at Yoshi’s

Call me crazy. I flew from across the country last month to see Van Morrison perform in Oakland, California. This was serious bucket-list territory for me, having wanted to see Morrison ever since hearing the Moondance album as a kid. I had tickets to a 1999 show boasting Van as headliner – the Fleadh Festival at Suffolk Downs, in Boston – but Van wasn’t feeling well that day and didn’t make the trip from Ireland. Read More…

2020 WUMB Blues Music Camp

There’s never a dull moment here at WUMB, and I’m happy to announce that we are already solidifying the line-up of instructors for the next WUMB Blues Music Camp! Once again it will be held in the beautiful wooded grounds of Grotonwood Camp and Conference Center in Groton, MA, located just about 45 minutes west of Boston.
