Spotlight on Realta

Realta is a Belfast-based quintet who kicked off the spring Belleville Roots Music Series on March 7th.

This band is unusual for an Irish band, because they have neither an accordian player nor a fiddler! They honor the traditions of the Bothy Band, Lunasa, and Planxty on low whistle, flute, uillean pipes, guitar, bouzouki and bodhran.  The driving sound is unique and having 2 dueling pipers is wonderful!

Their latest CD Clear Skies is really good!

Realta Asturian set from their CD, Clear Skies is on you tube. Recorded  live at Salon de Meres, Pascails del Xarreru, Spain.

Check out their website realtamusic.com to hear them.
