WUMB November Program Guide

Sundays in April with Perry

Hi everybody, I hope you are keeping healthy, safe, and sane. Sometimes a time like Sunday morning is just the right place for a re-set. And Sunday Morning Brew will continue to present you with that kind of sound track.

This is Perry Persoff. I’ll be filling in for Rob Hochschild for a few Sundays. That said, his framing fingerprints are still a part of the show, which makes it even more fun for me.

So here are some highlights for April that I am really looking forward to bouncing off of musically:

April 5th
Some artists we will celebrate for their birthdays include Peter Case, Richard Thompson, Emmylou Harris, Dave Swarbrick and Janis Ian. Hometown Heroes segment in the 11am hour will be: Boston. Yeah, I don’t know what we’ll pick for Boston, right? Similar to when the manager in Spinal Tap said of the city, “it’s not much of a college town.”

April 12th
Artists and their birthdays to celebrate: Jim Lauderdale, Amy Ray, Lowell George, and others. 11am Hometown Heroes segment: Austin, Texas! How can that not be fun, right? I only wish we could do it live by taking you all down to Austin for a week of going to clubs.

April 19th
Musical birthday celebrations will include: Dusty Springfield, Dar Williams, Rose Cousins, Michael Timmins, Glen Hansard, and just maybe Larry Groce of Mountain Stage. The 11am Hometown Heroes segment: Portland, Oregon. That’s become a burgeoning scene…

April 26th
Quite the diversity of musical birthdays to celebrate, including: Willie Nelson, Ella Fitzgerald, Jim James, Roy Orbison, Duke Ellington… The 11am Hometown Heroes segment: Ohio.

Along the way, I hope to drop in artists and songs to make you say, “wow, I haven’t head that in forever,” and “wow, that’s an interesting new sound and artist.” Yeah, we like the Wow factor.

See you Sundays from 8am to Noon,

~ Perry
