WUMB June Program Guide

Bob Dylan’s 79th Birthday!

On Sunday, May 24th Bob Dylan will turn 79 years old! (I had to double-check that info. Yes, somehow Dylan is 79.) In those years Dylan has catapulted the humble ’50s/’60s folk revival to international fame and recognition, sold over 100 million records, won 10 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. Dylan has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has been honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a Pulitzer Prize, and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. And he has continued to be a musical champion for the best 20th century America had to offer, from Woody Guthrie to Blind Willie McTell to Buddy Holly. And he is still one of our culture’s greatest mysteries.

Tune in to the Morning Show on the Friday before Dylan’s birthday, May 22nd, to hear songs from throughout his career, other artists interpreting his songs, and maybe even an airing of Dylan’s 17+ minute new single “Murder Most Foul”. Maybe.

I’ll catch you then as we celebrate all things Dylan later this month on WUMB!
