New Music on The Morning Show

One aspect I love about WUMB and The Morning Show, is the great new music we have.  There is so much that is constantly being released and we love to bring it to you. Every Tuesday morning Jay Moberg (WUMB program director & music director) and I sit down and we choose two new releases and highlight them on the show.  For example, Lucinda Williams’s new album, “Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone” originally had 30 songs on it.  Read More…

Don’t forget, there are couple of ways to support WUMB!

The holiday season is coming up fast with Halloween right around the corner.  Some of you may be gearing up to start your online shopping early, or going all out for the kids trick r’ treating this year.  If this sounds like you, please consider using the Amazon.com link on our website.  A portion of every purchase you make, goes to support WUMB Radio!  No codes, no confusion. Just click on the Amazon box and you’re there!

Another way to support the station is to donate your car through our CARS program.  The proceeds from the auction of your car will be donated directly to WUMB, and also make you a member of the station! It’s incredibly simple.  All you have to do is either fill out the donation form on this page:  http://www.wumb.org/cars/ or call  1-800-WUMB-CAR (1-800-986-2227) and a CARS representative will be on hand to answer any questions.

Any donation great or small goes a long way!

Welcome our new morning host!

Let me say hello and introduce myself.  I’m Dominick.  I’m very lucky to call myself the new morning show guy at WUMB.  I’ve been doing the mornings here for a few months now and not only do I love what I do but I’m very lucky that you allow me into your house, car or computer every morning! I thank you for that! Read More…

Congratulations to Patty Domeniconi!

Dear WUMB Members,

I’m writing to introduce myself to you.  My name is Ed Lambert and I am the Vice Chancellor for Government Relations and Public Affairs at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.  The Division I oversee has responsibility, among other things, for communications and all external affairs.

Over the past few years, the station has been part of our Division of Enrollment Management, under the direction of Kathy Teehan, a longtime supporter of  WUMB.  With Ms. Teehan’s retirement imminent, discussions were in the works about moving WUMB to another department that would be a more logical placement administratively, ensuring continued growth and creating new synergy.

As such, the station has now officially been transferred to the Division of Government Relations and Public Affairs.  This transfer will not necessitate any change to the broadcast service you’ve enjoyed for over three decades.  We wanted you to know that the University has been active in ensuring its continuing excellence and will continue to advance and evolve the missions of a public station by serving the community and region.

Concurrent with this administrative change, I am please to let you know that Patty Domeniconi has been named General Manager of the station.  She has been acting as an interim in this position since the retirement of station founder Pat Monteith over two years ago.  We feel that her continuing leadership will ensure that you will continue to enjoy the quality entertainment and information programming that has been a hallmark of WUMB.

Thank you once again for joining UMass Boston in supporting WUMB and helping to maintain this quality broadcast service, not only for our communities here in Eastern New England, but for listeners all around the world on WUMB.org.

Grey Season    Saturday, August 9, 2014

Grey Season electrifies living room music, fixing harmonies atop folk-influenced rock ‘n’ roll. The variety show that is a Grey Season performance may include the occasional five-part harmony, blues rooted guitar solos and lyricism, and memorable melodies driven by the nostalgic plucking of bouzoukis and banjos. Grey Season is a band that calls upon a collective musical memory while pushing forward with the power of song and the hearts of a growing audience. Grey Season’s “songs on life, love, heartache, and hope are so wonderfully constructed they could leave an impression on even the coldest of souls,” wrote the online magazine Under the Gun Review.
