WUMB Acoustic Music Camps

Full Steam Ahead for Spring and Summer!

WUMB’s first ever Spring Weekend Acoustic Music Camp, The Singer and the Song, will take place from May 5-7 at the Grotonwood Conference Center in Groton, MA. This camp is for aspiring and experienced singers and songwriters who would like to discover, develop and hone their singing, songwriting and performance skills with world-class instructors, nestled in a beautiful New England woodland setting. Our faculty for the weekend includes John Doerschuk, Bob Franke, Lorraine and Bennett Hammond, Christine Lavin, Kate Long, David Massengill, and Sloan Wainwright. We are very excited to inaugurate this new addition to our Acoustic Music Camp program!

The Singer and the Song

We are excited to announce a brand new Acoustic Music Camp, The Singer and the Song, which will take place from May 5-7 at the Grotonwood Conference Center in Groton, MA.

This camp is tailored to aspiring and experienced singers and songwriters who would like to discover, develop and hone their singing, songwriting and performance skills with world-class instructors, nestled in a beautiful New England woodland setting. You’ll enjoy classes, workshops, song circles, concerts, camaraderie and even learn to create music videos!

SAMW 2017 Reunion

In spite of the winter weather, 102 SAMW alumnae attended the Annual SAMW Meetup and Jam at the Grotonwood Conference Center in Groton, MA on Sunday afternoon, January 8.  A great day of re-connecting and sharing food, conversation and music was capped with a fantastic concert from our own Sloan Wainwright!  Registration is strong for both this year’s Winter Weekend and for both weeks of SAMW; watch for new and exciting opportunities in the WUMB Acoustic Music Camps program coming this year!

SAMW 20th Anniversary Gala- The Secret Is Out!

We’ve had to keep it under wraps until today, but I am very pleased to announce that the SAMW 20th Anniversary Gala special musical guest will be…The David Bromberg Quintet, which includes our very own Mark Cosgrove!!!

The Gala is being planned to honor the founders of Summer Acoustic Music Week, (SAMW), – Dick Pleasants, Lorraine Hammond and Bob Franke. The event will take place at the Marriott Hotel in Quincy, MA on September 26th and will feature cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and concert. All proceeds will go to benefit SAMW and WUMB.

Tickets are on sale, and will be available to past SAMW attendees and current WUMB Members for the first 48hours at a discounted rate. On July 3rd, ticket prices will increase.

There are only 300 tickets available, and we anticipate they will go fast, so don’t wait!
