Born in Dorchester and having spent thousands of dollars to learn how not to “talk funny” (yes, to lose the Boston accent), John Laurenti has been part of the New England radio scene for 25 years. In the mid 1980’s John found himself going to radio school and working as an announcer doing the late night shift on an AM station in Framingham. He later moved to the FM dial, where he has been ever since.

John has spent much of his career on the air, full-time in Providence, Rhode Island, and in Boston as the Afternoon Drive Host. He has interviewed hundreds of artists over his career and enjoys conversing with them about the music that they make and what they listen to.

John joined WUMB as our Music Director in June 2008. He is a fan of many different genres of music. John says, “At some point all music comes together as one. The music on WUMB is a great example of that. It has the most diverse number of artists that I have ever been associated with.”

John Laurenti can be heard as a fill-in when someone is ill or goes on vacation.
