WUMB’s Blues Music Camp offers a full weekend of classes and workshops exploring a wide range of blues styles and forms, from guitar to harmonica to vocal and ensemble-playing. We’ve invited some of the best blues and roots musicians in New England – and beyond – to share their expertise and insights.
Come enjoy a weekend filled with intensive instruction, jamming, workshops, concerts, an open mic, and musical collaboration. Instructors are attuned to the needs of each student – from elementary to advanced – so bring your instrument, an open mind, and join in!

Lodging and six meals are included. Groton is about an hour northwest of downtown Boston. The camp is in a beautifully wooded area, and facilities are comfortable. Most rooms are doubles, with private or shared bathrooms. The food is hearty, and the desserts are legendary. Walking between buildings is on fairly level ground, give or take possible snow banks! Oh — and there are several working fireplaces. Space is limited, and we encourage you to sign up.
Registration opens at 4:00 on Friday afternoon.
Dinner is at six.
Alcohol is not allowed at the Blues Music Camp.
Depart the campus on Sunday by 3:00pm.
Weather and Environment
Prepare for late autumn weather, so bring lots of layers and sturdy shoes or boots! But all of the lodgings have heat and hot water, so you’ll be plenty cozy inside. The camp is located in the beautiful Groton forest by a lake, so be ready to get outdoorsy. The ground can be uneven and, if it snows, pretty slippery so be careful of your surroundings.
