WUMB will host our second Springtime Acoustic Music Weekend,

“The Singer and the Song”
Songwriting, Voice and Performance

May 1 – 3, 2020, at the Grotonwood Camp and Conference Center in Groton, Massachusetts.
Classes welcome students at all skill levels.

Aspiring and experienced singers and songwriters – come discover, develop, hone and celebrate your singing, songwriting and performance skills.  We will welcome in the springtime with classes, song circles, concerts, in a beautiful New England woodland setting with these inspired, inspiring teachers:

Classes, lodging and meals are included. Groton is about an hour northwest of downtown Boston. The camp is in a beautifully wooded area, and facilities are comfortable.  The food is hearty, and the desserts are legendary!  Space is limited, and we encourage you to sign up early.
 Registration opens at 3:00pm on Friday afternoon, and dinner is at six o’clock.  Alcohol is not allowed.  Depart the campus on Sunday by 11:30am.

The fees for The Singer and the Song Music Weekend are as follows:

  • Prescott Lodge
    2 person room with private bath               $525 member    $575 non-member
  • Judson Cabins
    2 person room with shared bath               $450 member    $500 non-member
  • $200 deposit at the time of registration reserves your spot
  • Cost includes meals, lodging and classes
  • Final payments are due no later than April 3, 2020

Cancellation Policy:

  • Cancellation by April 3, 2020: full refund minus $150 processing fee.
  • Cancellation between April 4 and April 17, 2020: full refund minus $200 processing fee.
  • Cancellation after April 17, 2020: all payments non-refundable.
  • Phone cancellations must be followed by confirmation in writing. You may email your confirmation to samw@umb.edu .

Camp Information

Weather and Environment

Prepare for changeable spring weather, so bring layers, rain gear and sturdy shoes or boots! But all of the housing is heated, so you’ll be plenty cozy inside. The camp is located in the beautiful Groton forest by a lake, so be ready to get outdoorsy.

What Else to Bring:

  • Single-sized sheets, pillows and pillowcases, blankets, towels and toiletries.
  • Flashlight
  • Alarm clock
  • Your own marked mug for coffee – there are coffee makers in several lounges and the dining hall
  • Your musical instruments including singing voices
  • A recording device

Local Shopping
Grotonwood Camp is located approximately 6 miles from a general store and approximately 5 miles from a Stop & Shop and a Shaws.
