“Brooks’ Blues” looks at alternate ways to arrange a standard blues. We’ll make the grooves a little deeper and the chords a little richer to build upon a classic, robust and resilient song form. Topics include: creating melodic riffs, changing the rhythmic feel, soloing over the changes, and making one guitar sound like two guitars. Songs may include: “Hesitation Blues,” “Walk You Off My Mind,” and “The Thrill Is Gone.” This workshop is ideally suited for players who have some experience with playing blues songs, have a good knowledge of all the first-position chords, have a little experience picking single notes (either with a pick or with the fingers), and either have some experience or would like some experience looking at some classic blues open-tunings. Bring a picks (if you use ‘em), a slide (if you’d like) and a capo.
