Audience Income and Educational Profile

A recent study* of members’ levels of education and income revealed the following:

Education

97% reported a minimum of some college education

  • 86% possessed an undergraduate degree or higher
  • 49% had earned a graduate or advanced graduate degree (PH.D or MD)

Age and Gender

  • 59% of respondents were between the ages of 25 and 54.
  • 51% were male, 49% were female

Income

  • 69% reported HH income over $50,000
  • 53% reported HH income in excess of $75,000
  • 38% reported HH income in excess of $100,000
  • Of all respondents, 19% declined to respond to questions concerning income

* Based on the results of an online survey in February 2006, 578 listeners who responded.

Audience Occupational Profile

A recent study* of WUMB members’ occupations revealed some remarkable findings:

  • 74% are employed in professional or managerial positions
  • 62% are professionals in education, law, Musicians, artists, health care, Social Science, scientific, technical and other professionals.
  • 13% are education professionals (Professor, Educator, or Teacher, librarians)
  • 15% are professionals in the fields of scientific, technical
  • 10% are professionals in healthcare
  • 4% are professionals in the fields of law
  • 3% are professionals in the field of social science
  • 13% of the sample identifies an occupation of clerical and administrative support.
  • 7% of the sample are retired
  • Students represent 1%.
